I found these fork booties and I was wondering if anyone has tried them? I am talking about the ones for inverted forks. Do they extend the seal life enough to justify the expense? Any product reviews of this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

I run the SSR booties which cover the entire fork slider. I've got a year on the fork seals with no problems so far.

A friend of mine has a 99 KTM which was going through seals all of the time. He put on a set of booties and that ended the seal problem. I guess you could say that I like them.

They work awesome. 2 year old bike, never replaced a seal. Fork booties have been on the bike since there was 300 miles on the bike. Now there are 2200+.

Strick, did you use the fork booties similar to the ones I linked to?

layton, Where can I get these full length ones? I looked up SSR but all I got was a helmet painting company. Thanks.

Do you need to dissassemble the forks to put these on, or can you just slip them over the slider?

Thank you.

motor86, I am using the fork booties you have the *link* to on conventional forks. I don't see how it would make any difference which style forks you have. They were installed on my bike before it was ridden.
They have been on the bike for 1 year and I am running the original seals. Since they are wrapped around the tube and closed with velcro it is easy to clean-up. Either set-up whether long one or short is well worth the money.

I have the same fork booties as you linked. They are about 4"-5" long. You just attach them via a velcro strip, and a zip tie. Two or three minutes installation time.

So you are saying they can be installed without even taking the forks off the bike? So do you clean these after each rided?

Thank you

Isn't stiction an issue with these? It seems like you will now have to move a 4-5" unlubricated slip fit on each fork leg, seems extreme unless you have a chronic fork seal problem. Like right side up KTM forks. On upside down forks gravity is your friend as dirt/mud tries to go the other way.

Just a question!

No stiction problems. If you ever have the oppportunity to look at these booties you will immediately understand. They are the Bomb, for all forks.

I use the full length ones from SRC on my 96 XR600 and my 87 CR500. I can not tell any difference in the forks when I have them on or off. I'm picking up a 99 KTM 300exc saturday and the first thing going on it will be some fork booties. For the price of one set of seals they are more than worth it. SRC has them in a couple different sizes so you should be able find them for any bike.

Kali, I don't think the holeshot version will work on the ttr.I put it around the tube and it was too loose to really be of any benefit. They need to be stretched alittle to work. Sorry!
