I recently bought a 1998 rm 80 and I do not know what ratio to mix the gas :yikes: . The manual say's 20:1 but the person I bought it from told me it was 40:1. Also, I took the spark plug out and it is a BR9ES. In the manual it say's to use a BR10ES. The color on the BR9ES is a light tan which I think is normal.Could this hotter plug be because of rich jetting or what? Also, should I run regular pump gas or premium? Thanks for reading.

There will be plenty of folks who will tell you that 40:1 is no problem. I prefer to keep the 80's and 125's at no less than 32:1. Depending on how hard the previous owner was riding the bike they may have required a hotter plug to keep it from fouling.

The CR's come stock with a 10 (plug). Much too cold for my son's riding style. We run 9's inthe summer (big tracks & more WOT) ) and sometimes 8's in the winter.
