I bought this a couple of days ago and it started fine, this weekend can't get it started except with booster fluid. When it runs it doggy in 1st gear until higher rpm range then in 2nd it's ok. Has new plug, fresh fuel, air cleaner clean, good spark.
Any ideas.

Thanks in advance.

Worn out reeds can make a two stroke very difficult to cold start.

Also, little or no compression from a worn top end can make it hard to start cold.

Does it still have trouble at low rpm in first gear when the motor is hot, or is it only weak when the motor is relatively cold?

Do you have some kind of in-line fuel filter that could be clogged?

Is the power valve operating properly? Could be partly stuck open. Some of those old KDXs will gum up, expecially if they use the stock overly rich jetting.
