Identifying fork springs???

My friend just bought a used KDX and it came with 2 extra sets of fork springs.They are not marked,how do we tell what wieght springs they are???

Most springs, besides the oem springs, have tiny numbers etched on one end of them.

If they aren't marked, measuring them is what your stuck with if you wanna know. A tool for that purpose is of course primo..but that not being available, you can use a concoction of weights, bathroom scale and tape measure to arrive at 'X' compression with 'Y' pounds of force.

Never done that...seems a bit of a crap shoot to me. Especially if your trying to sort out .38kg/mm from .40kg/mm!
