Don't let this happen to you. :yikes: This is what happens when you let a lower shock bearing on a Kawi go too long. I've replaced this thing so many times I just got tired of it so I let it go. When I did finally go it to replace, this is all that was left.

Honestly, I don't know. But I think about a year. I've had the pivot works replacement bearings sitting in my garage for about 6 months; so I've known of the issue for a while. Just too lazy. :uh:

I just looked on www.buykawasaki.com to see what all was involved. I have a PivotWorks kit for my lower shock bearing, but it is cheaper to go OEM through www.ronayers.com on my '94 KDX200. I looked on www.ronayers.com, and here is what I found for a 1998 KX250:

Total parts cost is $21.68, plus $7 shipping, for a total cost of $28.68.

Superceeded Part
Part Number: 92152-1139
Description: COLLAR
Price: $3.54

Part Number: 92093-1436
Description: SEAL
Price: $2.91

Part Number: 92046-1192
Description: BEARING-NEEDLE,16BM22
Price: $7.73

Part Number: 92093-1436
Description: SEAL
Price: $2.91

Superceeded Part
Part Number: 42036-1351
Description: SLEEVE
Price: $4.59

You may want to check into that next time it comes around. I know those are high wear, frequent replacement items.

Hope this helps!

Don't know about the technicalities, but boy on that paper plate sure looks good. A splash of chilli sauce and some chips(fries US) and salad and I reckon it's worn so thin I could eat and pass it thru unnoticed!

That bearing goes bad VERY quickly on my KX too. Last 2 times I've tried to grease it, the needles have fallen out. This time I ordered my bearings from a bearing supply shop. The local guy I tried didn't have them in stock, so I went searching online. They were under $5 a piece. I got 4 of the larger bearings (hk2016) at $4.68, and 2 of the smaller lower shock bearings (hk1612) at $4.16. Shipping was only $4.90. I ordered them from www.bdiexpress.com

I think before I install the bearings, I'm going to go to a marine shop and get some good waterproof grease. Anyone have any suggestions?

Here is my guess on the table contents:

alternator box
tub of margarine - I am hoping it is a parts container now
three tire irons
a nut cracker
the base for a rolling shop vac
hose clamp

you know it looks like the subframe with airbox still insatlled to me- but could be a shop vac too,

I saw two tire irons but wasn;'t sure if the other one was an iron or a scribe- is that waht you are calling a nutcracker ?

there is a white bucket behind the alternator box

No, there are three tire irons. Are you seeing a box to the left of the alternator box? The thing I am calling a nutcracker is what you are calling the subframe.

I think I see a plastic pail (just the top of it) to the right of the alternator box.
