Thought I would share a few vacation photo’s with ya’s. I was just looking at them this morning reminiscing and thought you all would like to see them.

I went to Colorado to ride in the mountains with a few friends like 3 years ago now. We drove out straight thru in my friends Motor home towing an enclosed trailer behind with the bikes inside. We spend 7 days out there ridding every day, all day. You wanna talk about Monkey butt!

I could go into a long tale of the adventures had and lessons learned but I think I will let the pictures do the talking with a few brief descriptions. Enjoy.

We stayed here for 3 days I think. It’s called Taylor park and off-road bikes are more than welcome here. Plated of non. No one seems to care.

We went thru a few high altitude mountain pass’s. Bikes have to be re-jetted to run at these heights (as do my lungs).

The scenery from the top of some of these mountains is nothing short of breathtaking.

Lots of nice water crossings from the runoff on the mountains. That water is COLD. But because of the dry climate you dried off fast.

As we went there over the 4th of July holiday you would think the weather would be great, which it was for the most part. But at the top of some of those pass’s it was still a little….. shall we say cold.

We had a few challenges to overcome here and there. But teamwork and ingenuity usually overcame.

This is what a lot of the trails were like, pretty demanding stuff. Try ridding 80 miles of this a day for 7 days straight.

How would you like to live here??

Of all the vacations that I have taken with family and friends in the past, this is by far one of the best ones I have ever taken. And because we pooled our money and camped in the Motorhome it cost next to nothing to do.

Don:
That shot of Darrel on the mountain is nothing short of AWESOME!! The "dream house shot" of course would make ANYONE druel - THAT IS WAY COOL!! The next time you ask me if I wanna go ride Tin Cup I will most certainly think twice before I say no - MAN< WHAT GOURGEOUS SCENERY!!
I have traveled thousands of miles coverying our country on a road bike (what you did was more like back packing on wheels in GODS country!) and most certainly can understand why you REALLY enjoyed Colorado - I LOVE THE WEST TOO!! Of course, your comment about this being the best trip ever brings me to ask if Huby was with you on this one hahahah.
Sorry, had to ask :)
GREAT SHOTS BROTHER - wish I was there!

Actually it was kinda funny. Chris was supposed to be the 4th member of the group not me. But at the last minute he wrecked some part of his body and was unably to go. Sucks for him GREAT FOR ME. Although I had like 1 week notice to get my stuff together and beg my boss (not the wife she said GO) for the week off. Then I had to find some money to go. That was the toughy cause I had not planned on it at all.

I wonder if that was when Chris totalled his truck out hitting that Jeep - broke his knee cap... ANYWAY you look at that one, it was DEFINITLY in your favor!!
Hey Hokie, what part of Boulder do you live in?? My brother used to live about 15 minutes from "the Mall" where all the side shows used to take place out on the side walks (back in the 70's).. The same place that "Mork and Mindy" was shot. REALLY fun place!! Any idea if this still happens (side walk shows)? The mall wasnt very far from the College. How has the weather in the mountains been this year? Still really dry? Any fires still burning out there? My daughter and I spent 2 days touring the "Grand Mesa" area (other side of the mountains) 2 years ago and there was a lot of burnig going on!!

Funny...lol

His teeth are another matter alltogether. Years of neglect.

I think his Colorado killing injury, if memory serves me corect, was his sholder. He seperated it ridding out at Blue Lake (his back yard)

Yeah, he said that we (those of us who were riding with him) could come to his house for a ride right out of his front yard. My michigan trips are going to be few and far between, but Jim, who lives in Dayton, could be in Muskegon in about 4.5 hours. Hey may come back up to ride with you guys again. He has an ORV sticker now and a CCC membership, with map book and everything.

My new map book came this week, and I spent 45 minutes looking at all the different loops that we used to ride when I lived up there. I wish it wasn't such a long drive. It was 1008 miles from my house to the Wolverine trail head, that's one way.

Oh well.
