I have been on the search for a 1995 KTM 400 LC4, 1996 Honda XR250 or a 1994-1996 Kawasaki KLX250 for the past 2 years and can't track down any of these bikes in my area of Northern California.

So I am thinking about picking up a 1988 Yamaha YZ490 or a 1984 Suzuki RM250 and just going out and doing the Over-25 Classes at the Local GFI, CMA and CMC races in Northern California.

Right now I don't know of one single person who rides that still owns a 2-Stroke. I think it would be fun to get out there on a 2-Stroke and ride. And I think it would be even more fun to do it on an OLD BEAST.

I was wondering, is there anyone on this community forum from Northern California that still races a 2-Stroke outside of the 85cc class? If so how is it? How do you do against the 4-Strokes?

There's still a bunch of people running 2 strokes around here. It's more a rider skill issue at the level which most of us ride. I ride with a couple guys on 125s that are way faster than most of the 250f riders on the track. Same thing in the bigger bores, a fast guy on a 250 2t can certainly beat a mediocre guy on 450. In our group a guy on a cr125 usually smokes a guy on an rm250. Go with what YOU feel most confident on. Confidence is a big thing.
