I just had a complete rebuild on my bike and I have been running Mobil 1 mx2t for my oil. Everything is running great but a buddy of mine said that if I would run it at 40:1 instead of 32:1 ,which I am currently doing, I would no get so much sooge and better throttle response. I am happy with the performance of the bike, but if I could get another gallon of gas out of my oil that would be great. I guess that 250's are not run as hard as a 125 so is 40:1 a safe ratio to run at? I have a 98 yz250 and ride mostly motorcross. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

32:1 is a good ratio for a 250. If you are getting spooge with mx2t its because jetting not the oil. I run 32:1 with mx2t with zero spooge in my 500 .

I agree with the others. It took me some time and learning but I am running my bike at 32:1 with zero spooge and better and better pickup(still working on the slide). When I got the bike it spooged like crazy and loaded up the pipe if it ided for just a second or two.

I would not use any less oil than 32:1 on a 250. I use 32:1 (MX2T) on both mine with no problems. Plus, if it ain't broke, don't fix it :)

I run Motul 800 fully synthetic esther oil at 40:1 with AvGas (as recommended by my local Honda tech. It works absolutely fine at that ratio with my KX250 and peformes well even while trial riding in the hills. I understand you can safely run at 40:1 if you have a top oil (a friend even suggested 50:1 but that seems too crazy so Im not risking it):)

I'd stick to 32:1. It'll run on 40:1, but my philosophy is more oil=less wear.
