I have a question about rear spring rates. I have a 2003 YZ250. I weigh about 215 pounds. I read that the stock spring is rated for a rider about 170 pounds. I got on RaceTech's website and it said I need a rear spring with around a 5.2-5.4 rate. What I want to know is, is it worth the $100.00 to get a heavier spring and what will I notice from the change? What can I expect to gain by changing the spring? Can anyone offer me a little guidance. I'm not real up to date on suspension stuff! Thanks.

You should notice smoother initial action as with the lighter spring you are compressing it pretty far if you are setting your sag. Basically you're using the beginning part of the stroke just holding your weight up.

I'm 6'2" 220lbs and ride a 06 yz250 w a 5.1 for the desert in CA.
