Well there are spots to ride to the south of us, but it is 1 1/2 hours southeast of Reno. If the temps will just get back to normal we will be fine. Up high on the mountains though - will NOT be rideable unless we hit the 60's.

Howdy Heather!

Susan still raves about your impromptu "riding clinic" last year.

She keeps going on about having "some business to clear up..." with a hill climb on the back side. (grin)

Look forward to riding with you some more! - RandyB

Hey, I went to HS (Upland) with a girl named Heather Lewis... that would be weird. My name is Heather, too, if anyone is keeping track! :)

Heather:

Glad you plan to attend again this year. I know Katy will be thrilled to see you again and learn from you again. :yeehaw: Hopefully the weather will cooperate and this year can be as good as last year.

What "test bike" will you be riding this year?

We are both looking forward to riding with you and all of our "Reno" friends again. Can't wait

Alan and Katy

1 1/2 hours! That will get you to the edge of the city limits in some directions here in the Metromess.

I can't wait. The pile has already begun to grow in the living room.

ummm, question. I plan on getting to Peppermill mid-Friday. I won't know anyone there, and this is my first time attending. Is there some general plan of attack to hook up with people? I can't believe it's almost here. Melt snow melt!

Tink: I would plan on coming directly to Moonrocks unless you are expecting to be tired from the trip up. We will be riding until about 5:00 or so and then we go back into town and get cleaned up for dinner. Stick will hook us up with a nice place to eat and we all head to the bar or the casino after that. It all starts again on Saturday morning about 7:00 with a trip to the restaurant for breakfast.

We will be easy to find at Moonrocks as there will be a large trailer with a bunch of bikes around it and Red's truck with Illinois plates and my red trailer and my white GMC with Texas plates next to it.

We were at the end of the parking area last year.

Directions:
Assuming you are coming from California on I80 ...
Take I80 until you get to Reno proper
Take 395 north (left) right in the middle of town. It was all under construction last year so they might have moved things around a bit.
Exit Hwy 455 / McCarran Boulevard and head east (right). The exit is a little over a mile north of I80.
Hwy 445 will meander over a few hills until it hits Pyramid Way.
Hwy 455 will head north out of Reno. Take it.
It is about 15 miles out Hwy 455 to Winnemucca Road.
Turn left at the Y onto Winnemucca Road (there was a sign there last year). It is just over the crest of a hill and is one of the first roads to the left that you can take after passing the housing developments.
Follow Winnemucca Road about 6 miles and you will see a road heading off up into the hills on the left just past the end of a cultivated field. You can see the top of the rocks if you know where to look.
There was a sign there last year, but I can't remember what it said.
Turn left and come up to the parking area which is on your right. Come on up the hill and we will be at the far end.

If you want you can go straight on I80 until you hit Pyramid Way and turn left (north) under the bridge. It is 2 or so miles until you connect with Hwy 455 then pick up at that point above.

Hopefully this link will work. It is the intersection of 455 and Winnemucca Road.

See ya soon!!!!! :yeehaw:

Howdy Tink!

Susan ("The Ant") and I are arriving fairly late at the PepperMill on Thursday night. We'll be staying in the Motor Lodge.

After a *very* lazy start on Friday - we'll head on out to MoonRocks, check out the bikes, and do some easy warm-up rides, then like Tony said, head back into town for din-din.

Typically we find out who's going to be showing up Friday evening - and make some rough plans on grouping for some din-din_drinks some where.

Also the last week before the ride - we start swapping cell phone numbers so we can hook up with each other.

If you hitting town around noon or mid-afternoon - you might want to come on out to MoonRocks and check it out. Don't necessarily have to ride -- just see what it's all about. If you are arriving mid- to late-afternoon - you might just want to hit the hotel pool or what ever and then hook up with everyone at dinner.

We'll be driving a Silver Subaru WRX Sport Wagon w/ a 3-rail dirtbike trailer. Susan rides a Honda CFR250X - I ride a KTM 450-EXC.

We'll be looking for you....cheers! - RandyB

EXCELLENT - Thanks everyone - those directions are great, and I'll post my cell # when the time comes. I can't wait to meet everyone! I'm staying in the Motor Lodge, too. We'll see how time, traffic, and 9 hours of driving treats me before I decide to hit Moonrocks or the Lodge... :)
