Here's my 1986 KDX, yes, it's 24 years old, I bought it new, motor got a rod set and Nikasil recoat bore job a few years ago, Wiseco piston and dropped the bore clearance down to .0018". Also has KX 125 reeds and the squish closed up, makes so much power and the suspension works that well that I see no reason to replace it. The fuel cap split on my last ride so I made a new carbon fiber one for it as I couldn't find one. Parts are getting hard to get, I try to not drop it to badly because of that. Note the rear brake.

Hi DGA, I'm a 1988 KDX200C3 rider and have been wanting a reliable rear brake for years. How much work was involved in the disc conversion? I see you retained the original swing arm, where did you source the new bits? Have you got any pics just of the rear brake set-up, I'd be really interested.

My 2001 KDX 220

This is my first bike, I have had it for a little less than a year. I have been enjoying it. I have taken it to the desert a handful of times, and hit the track a couple of times as well. I have changed the stock piston out for a Wiesco. Race Tech springs for my heft, FMF Desert Pipe & TubineCore 2 silencer, Forks off of a KLX 300R....I will admit, that I did this mainly for the looks. I have to get the fork re-valved for my weight, and riding style. I also plan to do the RB Designs carb mod before desert season starts.

Here is my first KDX200, a C1 model. (My very first KDX that I ever owned was a 1979/80? twin shock 250.)

And though I still own the C1, I later bought a 2003 220.

Couple of pictures of my 2000 KDX200 as it was the day that I bought it (7/3/2010). It's currently getting overhauled / upgraded. Top end job, Revloc clutch, CR250 front suspension (I chose CR250 front end instead of KX because I have two CR250s and some spare parts for them), etc., etc., etc.... Will post more pictures once it's done.

Kickstand

David_L6 said:
Rcrx21, What kind of kickstand is that?

It is one I got off of Ebay. The tubing is a little on the soft side and a little short but it works. I might cut it and slide a rod inside and lengthen it a little.

New member here. I tune mopeds and just traded a running, modified Maxi for this guy. Handles my 6 foot frame a lot better.

VIN plate says 86. Overall, it's pretty janky, but someone loved it at some point. They upgraded the rear brake to a disc, and I was told it had Boyesen dual stagers in it.

I havent opened anything up yet, and it was given to me with only one exhaust spring, so I havent wanted to run it hard and fry the top end, but it starts quick with choke and puts around and shifts through the gears just fine.

Other than that, lights will be going back on, along with the speedo, some total loss blinkers, and might weld up a small rack for the back to carry an extra 2 gallons of premix and some tools and camping gear.

Plans are to get it ready to be plated and use it as a commuter (it's all back roads to work) and on weekend logging road expeditions.

Edit, apparently I cant embed an image... or attach it. So yea, I will eventually post it in here.
