so when i could not get my bike started i first checked the spark plug and i noticed it was R6918B-7. its a 2001 suzuki rm125 and it calls for a R6918B-8. but it runs fine with it?
should i buy what the stock calls for or stick with R6918B-7?

One thing i have noticed, especially in manuals, what the facotry says, is what they reccomend. if the bike runs fine with what you have in it, then continue to run that plug. now if the plug was the problem then yes, i would say use what they call for. wouldn't hurt to put a factory plug in and just see how it does.

$30 for a spark plug does seem a little steep, i paid like 5 bucks a plug for mine.

Well if its running well right now i would just keep it in there. Just next time you need a plug try what stock says. I've always put what the manual says with anything esspecially 2 Strokes.

I have an 01 RM125 and I run BR8ES. They're something like $3.50. It works great but now you have me concerned. Maybe there's something better I should be using.

Suzuki's are shakers. Stick with the $30 plug. Some tend to break the porcelain. Have seen 3 motors go down at the races in past years from it.

I was buying some plugs from the local Napa store for my bikes, and the guy helping me told me the plugs for the RM125's were like 30 bucks. I couldn't believe that, but he said that is correct. Why are they so much?

The only difference between the -8 and -7 is heat range AFAIK. The -7 is a slightly hotter plug. Should not cause any problem at all.
