Suzuki JR50 head shaving

I have read in a few of the older threads, that if you shave the head .020-.040 of an inch you can get the compression up to around 10:1. Can anyone tell me exactly what lip has to be shaved off? Is it on the cylinder or the head shell?

Depends do you want to just increase compression or also change port timing?

I don"t really want to mess with the port timing, I figure if that needs to be done, then I will do it with the piston skirt and transfers

I'm no machinist, but I'd guess the best place to mill would be the head gasket surface of the head.

One more question, does the oil injector add oil to the carb ot straight to the main bearings?

BTW... this is a 1979 Suziki JR50
