Hi all,

Seems like I am adjusting the chain on my sons bike after every ride. Sure it is time for a new chain and sprockets. What are all you 2 stroke dads doing out there?

O-ring? if not, which chain seems to be longest wearing?

do I need to kick it up to a 428?

Thanks

Mike

CR Chains:

The stock chains are JUNK. Anytime you have to constantly adjust chain: it is either low quality or worn out.
Not worth the risk of damaging cases when it comes off.

I use Renthal 420 R1 works chain (35$) on my sons CR-85
(12 y/o begnner/MX). He's at the stage where his starting to go fast and clear big jumps. Chain lasts about 2 months in the summer (riding MX 4 days week).
The Renthal will stretch a bit on first ride then is pretty stable until it is worn out.
To measure wear: I lay chain upright on flat surface and compare lateral deflection with new chain.

Have also used DID Gold on KTM 65.

For woods riding I use DID O-ring. O-rings prevnt abrasive wear due to mud etc, but rob some HP.
