Here’s my short list. No rhyme or reason other than they are bikes that I thought were very cool at the time. The only exception is the Cappra as I owned a 1979 250VE. I always thought the pre-1979 glass tank bikes were better looking.

1972 WR250 Husqvarna
1974 YZ250
1974 YZ360, the Holy Grail of vintage MX bikes
1974 TM250
1974 Penton Jackpiner
1975 CR125
1976 YZ125
1977 Ossa Phantom
1978 KX250
1978 Montesa 250 Cappra VB
naw ive got the holy grail of vintage mx bikes......1975 MX400B the very first monoshock ever! my cousin bought it brand new.$1000.00 out the door i have it 90% restored just needs rear shock rebuilt

my first big bike hehe was a hodaka STEENS 90 with ceriani forks akront rims.my uncle was friends with steens and this was his personel bike used to beat all the other guys 125s and 175s hehehe :ride: :nener:

The RM's really brought Suzy into the game. They were/are beautiful and race ready right out of the crate. One bike I would like to have or at least take a ride on would an 81/82 Husky 500-XC with the six speed wide ratio tranny. What a desert machine!

I have been Midwest VMX racing my 1983 Honda CR480, and my 2000 Service Honda CR250R! It misses the evo cut off date by 3 years, but it's real fun in open 2 stroke class!! It has the Huck valves in the forks, and the 500 digital ignition from Service in it! Vintage Bob

I'd want the 1978 Maico MC250 or the 440 from the same year. With a Mikuni VM38 carb of course.

at Mount Carroll illinoise a few weeks ago, a friend on one of these had his carb blow off, somehow! He was almost in tears, but I had to ask, if he new where to still get maul pistons? Nope, wiseco? I'm running maxima 927 jetted for 20:1, you can't kick my bikes over in gym shoes! I often get the hole shots, especially on the 480! Ryan, my oldest son, has now jetted his at 24:1! It took some arguments!! But his 05 yz250? His plugs were melting, and the piston showed detonation! 110 Sunoco out of the ground? Phooey!

When I worked for Krause Racing back in the 70s I always kept an MX boot near my toolbox for starting the big Maicos. All it takes is one Maico 400 kicking back and tossing you into a workbench to learn the "don't kick these things over in gym shoes" lesson :)

I'll follow Rich, on the MC 250. My dad was a huge Maico fan (he was born in Luxemburg, his dad built Maico engines before the war in his bicycle factory) . The Maisch Brothers made some cool stuff.

And for all those that say ol' Okie & Pokie say it wrong, give a listen to this GERMAN Maico commercial. Are they saying "MAYCO" or "MYCO" ? Don't care? Do you also call that German sports car a PORCH?

Done.

That was specifically for wardy
