When you need parts, a lot of times they'll say they need to order them. Some parts are common, like some brake parts. Circlips, if you found some at the hardware store, the punk behind the counter coulda found better ones. Almost any fastener should be in stock.

If you need piston, rings, gears etc, they will need to order them (buy them from a warehouse for an immediate, unearned profit). I seriously think they should stock much more, they're just spoiled enough to know what they can get away with..

Tomorrow morning go outside your dwelling, and see if you have plumbing venting coming through the roof. Unprotected traps can let sewer or septic gases in your dwelling. Every drain opening needs to be protected, and vented outside, all the way outside. There are over 200 different gases that churn in there, only a few of them actually smell. Also, placing the septic field too close to the well is not good. A few different learning and emotional issues can develop from long term exposure. I am working on a theory about the slang/drawl, from down south is from this very source! Circlips at the hardware store, UNBELIEVABLE, and even more if they have seemingly 24mm clips! I was going to ask Chris from Service Honda THEE question today, 70 some dollars for my CR250's plastic water pump gear helped me forget. But, I know where him and Greg are going riding Saturday! They are going to have some 480 roost in their teeth, 35 dollars worth! Paying retail, YUCK! Do not get mad, get even. Vintage Bob

I have been using the bacon diet, pack the pounds on! 160 on an open class bike is pretty wild. I need more ballast! Chocolate covered bacon is next. Vintage Bob

its your birthday

happy birthday RD
I've worked in bike shops now for over thirty years and I'm yet to find one with a ciclip department (those boxed sets always seem to be made of rubber). Piston clips are specialist parts with a very low price that you use once then recycle, and they are deliberately spread around to prevent an error in supply due to fat fingers. Getting angry at a parts kid wont get you what you want. If you give him make, model, year info he can do his job. If you don't give him the info then he's looking at you thinking "here we go again.... " Relax and show your years of experience by helping him give you what you want. (I'm from the other side of the world so maybe this sounds up-side-down)
ps since you have managed to advance your own timing and are no longer a bit reta.... a helpful hint is to know that pressed circlips have an inside and outside one feels smooth and the other feels sharp, the sharp side is made to take the weight. If you strain the smooth side it tries to start a taper on the groove wall and enventually the clip spreads out or squashes in and fails. At 24mm you are probably trying to secure your front sprocket OEM is best, but if you are inside the gearbox definitely use OEM.
