I am knew to the site, but have a ktm200 that we purchased for my son,and will be doing the maintenance on it.The question is,what is the dimensions that you speak of,and how often do you guys tear down? The z and x dimensions?
The Z and X dimensions refer to the final piston to head clearance and the full closed height of the exhaust valves.
As long as you measure the original base gasket and ask the dealer for the same thickness gasket, you won't have to worry about setting up a dial gage to measure the piston height as described in the manual.
The KTMs with a pivoting powervalve like the 250-380, require carefull adjustment of the powervalve's closed position so as to aviod contact with the piston. Your 200 has the gear drive valves and the only way to knock out the timing of the center valve is to misalign the rack and gear marks, but if you don't completely disassemble your valve system you'll be ok.
If you're looking to degrease the heavy build-up that accumulates under the main valve cover, just remove the cover and strip the gasket, then bring it to your local autoparts/machine shop store. They'll probably have an aqueous washer, those work great for safely cleaning the oil and dirt from a cylinder. Spray the steel valves with penetrating oil after cleaning. Most aqueous washers use de-rusters in the detergent.
Good luck
