Sometimes people ask me what things they should do to winterize their dirt bike. In truth, I just ride them 12 months out of the year, so I don’t worry about winterizing them. Yes, it’s difficult to ride very much in December, January, and February, but I always find a way to make it happen. The best thing you could do is drain the fuel out of your bike and especially get it out of the carburetor and the fuel injection components. We want to do this because the fuel can break down and corrode things. It also gums up the carb/EFI if left in there. Yes, you can add fuel additives to stabilize the fuel, and I recommend doing that too.
Other things you should think about would be: taking the battery out and putting it on a battery maintainer, lifting the bike onto a stand to take the weight off the suspension/wheels, changing the gear oil, and doing a deep cleaning of the bike with the plastic off.
