Eli Tomac’s current contract at Monster Energy Kawasaki was always going to run out at the end of 2021. Race day talks with people close to the situation made it seem like he was set to sign a two-year extension and would stay on the green machine through the close of his hall of fame career.
But on Tuesday, Steve Matthes of PulpMX broke the news that Eli Tomac will move from Kawasaki to Yamaha in 2022, a development that shakes up the pit area. From what we’ve learned in recent days, it’s a done deal but won’t be publicly announced until much later in the year.
UPDATE: Kawasaki has announced that the team and Tomac have mutually agreed to part ways at the conclusion of the 2021 race season.
