The other thing that you can try is to put your spring and cap back in and compress the fork to try to stop the cartridge from turning. While somebody else is compressing the fork you can try to loosen up the base valve. If you have an impact wrench that may also make it easier. I had the same problem and I bought the tool [/QUOTE]
