I am at a higher altitude [4-7000], but you could just start one step richer than these settings, that work for me.

CGK needle, 4th notch [one from richest]
7.5 slide [hand-cut maybe be closer to eight]
AS [1-2 out depending on the daily conditions]
42 pilot
178 main [must use big main with that needle]

Ride the bike one ride before changing jetting, then I would say the specs that Montana posted are good, except don't touch the slide (right now). The '01 300's can be dialed spot on with the #6.5. Try that needle on #3 first. MT has that shaved slide:D

What's your altitude MT, & spktm??

I am at 4-7000, temps up to 90, humidity around 30 percent.

I have been using my lean handcut slide [which is about 7.5], and it is certainly lean enough maybe a bit too much. I have been wanting to put in my unmolested 7.0 slide to see how it worked, but it is lent out to a buddy for his 200E.

Strick, what is different with the '01 that makes the 6.5 slide functional? I do like the larger cooling capacity, I already notice that it holds its water better than did my '99.

Thanks for the info, most of my riding is below 4000 ft with the occasional foray onto a moto track, my experiance with other brand is if you have to mess with the slide and lean out the whole jetting curcuit it most likely is the nozzle that is the problem. but i hear ktms can be quite finicky sometimes

Thanks
