I just bought a 01 CR250. It seems to be the most cold-blooded 2-stroke I've
ever owned. I've yet to ride it, but I have played with it some. It takes at least
4-5 minutes of warm-up (so I can pull away with the choke off). It's about 50F here.
Is this normal. The jetting was stock until today. I added a S-7 nozzle and left
everything else stock. How long do you need to warm up your CR's?

With my 02 cr 125 it's exactly the same. I think it's a Honda thing because a lot of my friends are also very cold-blooded. Yesterday it was about 40 and I had to warm mine up for about 5 minutes, and that still wasn't quite long enough.

I also have the s-7 in mine, but I think this is overkill...too lean, makes a lean or flat spot somewhere in range. Worse in cold weather. Is an s-5 available? Should be just right

Motometal,
Stock is S-9. If S-7 is leaner, S-5 is even leaner. Perhaps you need a S-8?
My bike has a stock pipe and silencer. Are you piped? There is a guy on the
cr250 egroup who has jetted his as follows.
Stock except jetting
420 main
s-7
30 pilot
H-75 needle second clip from top(two leaner than stock)
He is in MI 500' above sea level. Same area and altitude as me. He said his bike
runs clean and hasn't burned down even on 40 degree days. I bought a 30 pilot
from a YZ but it has a way smaller tube. I'm going to post a question to ask if they
are the same as I get a killer deal on Yamaha parts. Any thoughts?

Back to the original question. How long do you need to warm up your bike?
Thanks
