02 ktm 520 exc. problems?

Can anyone tell me if they know of any problems with this year of bike.A friend of mine is thinking of buying a used one,and someone said there was a valve issue with this year/model. thanks

No valve problems I'm aware of. They had issues with the cam bearings and the cam gear, but they were supposedly "solved" in 02 sometime. Easy fix if needed, though.

They did have some problems with the early Ti valves, but it did not affect this model. Overall this was a solid bike and/or year.

No issues with the 520. All the KTM RFS bikes need the valves adjusted regularly, but overall very reliable and easy to start. I have an '02 520 EXC...

I have owned mine since new and other than regular maintanance it's soild.
