02 yz426 engine in an 01 wr426

I am possibly buying an engine off e-bay for my 2001 wr426, it is out of an 02 yz426. Will this engine bolt up to the 01 frame? will I have to modify it some how, or will it just not work? Thanks

It will fit in the frame without issues, but the carb from your WR will have jetting that will require changes, and you can't use the restrictive stock WR exhaust with the YZF cams.

Thanks for the reply, would the exhaust require a different head pipe and muffler, or just the muffler?

It will probably work with the wr can with the 1/4" removable silencer removed.
You can get used yz pipes oem and aftermarket for very reasonable prices if you shop around.

The swingarm pivot bolt is different diameters. 02 is a different swingarm.

I have heard on thumpertalk that someone got the 01 bearings in the frame and the 01 bolt and it all works
