My bike stopped shifting this weekend. seems to be stuck in neutral, shifter moves up and down but does not seem to be moving anything,, engine runs fine. Haven't had time to pull it apart and look at it yet.

I've been told that 99 and 00 SXs had plastic shifting stars in the trans that would get tore up if a piece of clutch fiber came loose. and then the bike would just be stuck in neutral. And the fix was to replace them with aluminum ones.

Does anyone know if the 03 still have the plastic shift starts and if so, where to find the aluminum ones?

They are aluminum in most cases. I have 2 trannys apart and they are alum. Pull the clutch side case and check thing out. The index/roller may ave broke or the return spring on it has snapped, that would stop shifting...

Got it apart, one of the steel rods in the aluminum shift drum came out. found out the 03s are not plastic. Shift drum is on order and should take care of it. It seems like a pretty solid piece, suprised it broke.
