04 ktm shocks

Hi

I'm in need of optional spring rate info to suit a 04 ktm 450 exc. The stock spring is an 8.8kg. Anyone have a manual for one of these listing the optional heavier springs available?

I'm thinking I'll be up for stiffer springs too. The manual shows a 9.2 for the SX but only specs the 8.8 for the EXC no matter what you weigh.

I'm interested in looking at all the options - stiffer straight rate, two stage and Race Tech progressive.

I don't think i like the race tech springs. They all start at the same rate, 7.1 i think it is. IMO they have produced only three spring to try and cover way to many aplications. And they weigh a ton.

Must be very hard to control that mega spring(the stiff RT one) on rebound IMO.One way to make a already hot and overworked shock, work even harder?

Here in europe you can get heavier 9.2 and 9.7 springs. A friend of mine has the 9.7 and is absolutely happy with it. Before he tried PDS4 but he could't get the sag dialed in properly...right now everything seems to be fine.

prcucuma - what does your buddy weigh? Is it on a 2004?

It is a 2003, but revalved and with a bladder. He weighs around 95kg, whatever this might be in pounds...

95 kg - pfftt! lightweight! I'm probably 120 kg with gear.

Another one I know has the same and had even more muscles as you have;-) and he had this 9.7 spring in his husaberg and was very happy with it. As I know this is the hardest spring you can get. I would give it a try!

They have straight rate springs in just about any weight you want.
I got an 11.0 for mine.

Or try Eibach springs for the off road trucks. Infinite possibilities there, and they are half of what a bike spring costs!
