07 ktm rear fender cracking?

Hey guys/girls. I just got my new 07 KTM 300xcw and have 59km on it. I haven't crashed or hit anything and the rear fender has a huge crack right down the centre running length wise (along the ridge). It looks like there's a roost mark on the inside.

Question is: has this happened to anyone else? Maybe it's a fualty batch of plastics? Bad design having the sharp angles? I can't see forking over money on a new fender everytime a rock hits it. What ever happened to plastics being flexable, isn't that one of the many benifits of plastic over metal?

You may have a bad batch of plastic as I have been on a 07 300 XC since mid August 06, crashed many times and no broken plastic.
