anybody using different offset clamps to make them turn better? do they work? Is it any better than sliding the forks up in the clamps?

FWIW, I talked to Applied about which one to get before I bought mine. They told me they were going to quit selling/making the 16's because of clearance and stability problems.
Also, KTM is planning to go to the 18mm configuration for the 2002 model line.
I'd get the 18's if you decide to get some.

You could try doing a search; I think this topic has come up in the past.

I spoke to one of the guys at Scotts and they were going to offer a 17mm offset. After doing some tests with the 18mm they decided to go with them instead.

I've heard that even on the 4 strokes there is a clearace problem with the 16mm offset. If I can find a deal, I'm going with the 18's.

im using 18's and have a slight tire rub on my big gun exhaust. if i tried 16's im sure it would hit badly on landings.

I am running the 18's on both my 200 and 250 EXC. They made a big difference on the 250 but not a real big difference on the 200. I've heard that the 16's come very close to the pipe, but I don't know anyone that has tried them. The dealer I ride for has Applied clamps in stock and sells them for a decent price. Email me if you would like his number.

i just put the 18mm clamps from scott's on an '00 200 EXC. made the handling noticeably sharper, but also twitchier at speed on rough terrain. overall, i like 'em. i like to run a little extra wheelbase already; you really will want to do so with the tighter offset. it does make a big difference over sliding the fork legs up, imo (i left mine slid up where i had them for the sake of the test ride). it's also nice to be able to run bark busters mounted to the clamp. i could not find any that would let me keep my preferred bar position, the hi & forward 1, but it's not a huge deal so far. i don't think i'd want anything tighter than 18mm for riding off-road.
