I am a new to the off-road world and I am wondering why bikes have 18" rear tires instead of 19" like an MX bike? Any help is appreciated.

18" and 19" tires have about the same outside diameter. The difference is in the depth of the sidewall. Deep sidewalls sometimes give motocrossers problems in high speed turns. Woods riders need the deep sidewalls to help protect rims and hubs from damage due to rocks, roots and other hazzards. One mans opinion and observation. Cheers John

i think new bikes should have an option in seat hight. i know a lot of tall guys that have have off road bikes and could use a few more inches of seat hight.
