I'm stuck trying to get some old forks apart. I can get the lower bolt loose with an impact, but it is still just spinning in the fork tube. What's the trick?
Not familar with the specifics of the Husky fork, but you need to hold the damper rod from the inside.
Usually there is a special tool for this. However, you may be able to make one. My buddy made one once using an aluminum tube from a vacuum cleaner extension. He notched the end of the tube to match up with two tabs located at the base of the damper rod.
Shine a strong light down in there and take a look. You might be able to improvise a tool to hold it while you loosen the bolt.
If you can't figure out a way to hold the rod from the inside and you can't find the correct tool, you might try heating up the bolt and then use your impact wrench again.
