Got this old gal running so I thought I'de share some pictures. Maybe some of the older people on this site remember this bike from back in the day. It may not look pretty but boy does she rip :)

Very cool, nice job.

A few years ago a friend and me fixed another kids 1978 DS 80 I beleive and all i remember was it being a beast. Both in size and power (i was quite small). I love those older bikes, there is just something about them that makes riding them so much fun. Restoring old bikes is one of my passions, during the summer i restore classic single cylinder BMWs and twins from the 50s and 60s. Hopefully this summer i can finally get my own R27 or if im really lucky an R51/3. :cool: Keep it running, they deserve it. :)

actually i didnt move the resivor, its the wrong shock and learned that as soon as it blew out in the summer, anybody know were i can get a shock???? psshh my bike is a beast it will keep up with my 02 yz125 after bottem end and they are both maintained and have fresh top ends

not on bottem end,but once you revv it into the powerband its just as close,ive drag raced my 2002 yz125 against my 82 and the yz slightly walked away

Yep that was the bike to beat in it's day. I had a 83 RM250 and could smoke CR500s and KX500 off the starts and of course after that it was just a cruise

Yeah, it screams up on the top end. Nothing down low, and what a powerband its got. Buhhh BRAPPP.

ghetto? lmao my 82 is newer than my 02 yz and 93cr and they have been pretty much restored, thats a nice 85 rm250, is that the original engine? on a track a new bikes suspension would definatly beat it but in a drag race they can keep up pretty good.

Yes, this is the original motor, I don't think it has ever been touched. It's one of the cleanest I have seen.

With all this talk about how the old rm's keep up I might have a new project on my hands with my 81 rm125...What kind of vintage websites are out there?

Im starting to hate vintage bikes, I got a 1976 TS75 and it blew up, but I cant get a big enough piston for it because suzuki dosen't make anything over .5 for that bike anymore. God dang how are you supposto restore these old things if they dont make the parts!

www.suzuki-rm125.com is a good site. The guy who runs it knows everything about the old rms. He can answer any questions you have about the bike.
