Just resurrected a 1983 XL80 rebuild. Starts up on first kick. But I can't give it any throttle. Farts and dies. Carb has been torn down and cleaned. Plenty of throttle play. Slide moves up just fine. Both center jets inside bowl see clear light. Emulsion tubes clear. I feel like I'm something obvious. Bad gasket seal? It's on tight. Is the throttle slide to blame? I haven't touched the slide yet. Just confirmed that it moved up on throttle. I got a new spark plug just to be sure. Timing and valves are good. Gas is fresh. 1st kick start up. Spits gas and farts to death on throttle. I'm thinking it's the slide because it's the only part I haven't touched. But that wouldnt make sense if I see it moving on throttle, right?

I'm stumped. Here's my YouTube vid for clarity:

Make sure the slide is in correctly and the needle is attached to the slide. If the slide needle is detatched from the slide it will cause the condition you describe.
