1985 KX 250: Specs and comments

I have a nephew who is looking at a shrewd deal on an '85 KX 250. I am wary of it just because of age issues. Any comments on this bike? Anyone know the specs? It looks as though the rear shock is spent so, is this one rebuildable or would he need to get it replaced?

Thanks

Hi. I am not a regular in the vintage forum, but I think an '85 KX250 is not considered a vitage bike. You might do better to ask in the KX, CR, YZ, RM forum.

As far as specs, for a precise look, you can look on the www.buykawasaki.com website for the parts diagrams. As for some general specs, it was the last KX250 to have a drum rear brake. It has a front disc brake, liquid cooling, power valve equipped 2 stroke engine. From what others have said on these forums about other bikes, the quantity of power should be around the same as your modern 4 stroke 250, but not as widely spread.
