Bike wont idle, it has a choke plunger idle adjustment type thing. How does it work and how do i adjust it. Bike is reluctant to start also, but runs good once started.

Those choke / idle adjusters are the same as older Honda CRs. I cannot remember if the knob on the KTM is accessed from the LH side or the RH side, but...

Start the bike and act like you are unscrewing the upper part of the choke knob. This design raises the plunger, raising the idle.

Ain't LH kick bikes fun? I learned this technique decades ago and use it every time I crank off my CR500: gently push the kickstarter just past TDC, then bring it all the way up and kick hard all the way through. When the engine is cold, put the bike in second gear and rock it back and forth 6 to 8 times, then follow the above drill. By rocking the bike, you are "charging" the cylinder. Easier than kicking.
