I accquired a like new wire harness off a 1996 KDX200 and i was wondering if it is possible to switch it w/ my old $hitt 1992 harness. Its the whole deal, CDI, Coil, Voltage Regulator, ect. I hope it will work. Also will there be any difference in the power out put, or are the cdi/coils the same on the 92 as the 96?...Thanks in advance.

I have swapped a 1989 coil/CDI for a 1992 no problem, but:

From 1989 to 1994 the coils and CDI are identical. In 1995 they changed. The part number is different and the parts are physically different. The rotor and stator also both changed.

If you've got the 1996 stator and rotor you should have no problem. Otherwise, I'd give you 3:2 odds in favor of the 1992 generator working with the 1996 ignition.

Rotor?

I assume that by rotor you mean the Magneto right? No, its still the 92. And just to update ya i have spark. Havent started it yet but i know i got spark at least now =)...And what are some reasons that it wouldnt work???? Any info is appreciated because i would rather not ride the bike 1/2 an hour w/ the new harness and fry my mag or something some how.

Sounds like you've got it. If you've got a good spark I'll give you 5:1 that everything will work fine. Seriously, my only concern was that the generator end would be different and wouldn't work at all. Fire it up and see if it runs smoothly.

Running smooooth...

Everything is running good. Seems to even have more snap to it (would chaning ne of the stuff do this or was my old coil just going maybe). I put about a good 6 or 7 hours on it over the weekend and everything is fine.
