I just bought my daughter a new KX85. What is the best pre-mix oil to run in there? I use Golden Spectro in my KDX200 with great results, but that's not an MX bike. I know the answer to this question is personal preference but I would appreciate some suggestions from people who race.

What do you use in the most extreme conditions? Also, are European F1 Grand Prix bikes 2-strokes? Are they the 50cc-125cc bikes?

I don't think you can go wrong with golden spectro, plus the KX does not have powervalves to clog up, you should be fine running the same fuel you run in the KDX

Thanks Zero, the KDX200 loves the stuff. I just pulled the top end after 3 hard seasons and everything looks great. I am replacing all of the top end parts though. FYI the 1998 - 2005 KX80/85 does have a KIPS. What piston are you running in your KDX?

My bad, I can't imagine how small that little kips must be. I'm running a wiesco pistion. This winter, I took the top end off, and sent it to fredette, after 2 years I didn't need to, but I was curious about the power increase. Fredette swears that golden spectro is the best oil for keeping the kips clean, and he doesn't sell golden spectro.

I never encounter what I would consider extreme conditions personally, but I know that a lot of cart racers run Phillips Xamax.

I really like Torco's line of products. They are one the few companies that still blends their oils in-house. Alot of big name companies private label Torco product.

The premier class (500cc 2-stroke or 1000cc 4-stroke) Moto GP bikes were all 2-strokes a few years ago. Recently, due to changes in regulations, 4-strokes have taken over. The 125 and 250 classes are still 2-strokes. BTW, in all 2-stroke classes the individual cylinder displacement was 125cc (i.e. the 250's were twin cylinders, the 500's were 4-cylinders, the 125's single cylinders).

I don't know what type of premix they used, but it would probably not work well for a dirt bike. These bikes are very highly tuned - ~190+hp for the 500cc bikes, and are run very hard and re-built after each race.

I'v run Yamalube 2R in my KDX200, KX250 and KX100's since the 1997. The top ends seem to last very well and stay extreemly clean.

I've been using Lucas Semi-Synthetic for over a year with not even a sign of problems.
It smokes very little and doesn't gum up power valves. But I love the smell of Castor.

I talked to Edna, my nice old lady neighbor down the road, who's "been around mota's" and she said to use cod liver oil
"better than casta, but don't smell as good". I talked to my grandmother and she concurred. So that settles it. Cod liver oil it is.
