I did a search on this but came up with nothing. This is a friends bike and since I am unfamilar with Honda's I thought I would ask you guys. I see that it has two cables going to the powervalve and one seems to be adjustable. Can you adjust this to change the opening point of the powervalve. His bike seems to lack a little low end power.

Also, we are changing his sprockets to a 14/50 combo from a 14/48 so this should help low end quite a bit. What you you harescramble guys running as sprocket a combo?

Ive been told they need to be check often, and that you will lose alot of low end if the cable is lose.

They're not adjustible to tune the power, but they can go slack. The bikes don't have a bunch of low end, and a too-loose cable on the powervalve does make it even worse. Keep it tight but not too tight. enough so you can't push it forward to touch the side (toward the front of the bike) of the case its in. The MXA article says it best.

There isn't any power to be gained by adjusting the power valve other than factory spec. It will run softer if you delay the power valve.

14/48? Stock is 13/48 and that will make a world of difference for "low end." 13/50 will be even better.

I am sorry, we are switching to a 13/50. He is currently running a 13/48. I am used to speaking of my YZ250 which runs a 14/50. I tried to talk him into a 13/51 but he believes he will loss too much top end.

Thank you for the help. I will check the slack on the cable and correct it if it is off.

Low end

I shaved the head .010 on my 02 CR250 and it gave it better low-mid power very noticeable from stock! I am at about 3000 alt and on premium gas no detonation!

I also run 13/50 gearing it is pretty good for the woods and still decent at the track.
