Hmmmm.... I seem to remember KTM (in the U.S. at least) making a big to do about the fact that the then new 400 and 520 "Racing 4-Strokes" were not suited to use on pavement, due to the racing bottom ends. They were making a big push to have dealers steer anybody looking to ride a KTM on the road, towards the LC-4 motors. Now I see turn signals that look factory installed, on a brand new 2002 520 sitting in a dealer showroom in Austria? Does anybody know if KTM has relaxed thier warnings against riding the 400 and 520s on the street?
Yeah SeanATK, I would like to know the same thing. The REASON I didn't buy the KTM RFS was the fact that they were claiming it would not hold up to dual sporting it. I ended up buying the 01 WR250F, which I love, BUT, I still would have preferred the KTM with the magic button.
In fact all EXC models (2 and 4stk) in Australia come fully street legal and can be commonly seen on the streets. I don't have any feedback on their durability as a Dual sporter. (in fact, I'm looking for some as I'm looking at buying one that's been used this way)
Sort of makes me feel better paying $12,000 for one. Don't anyone in the US complain about paying $6,500 for a dirt bike again!
I will enjoy riding past the cops, legally.
