A friend of mine is buying a new (leftover) 2002 WR250F and I believe I remember reading some posts about a few free mods. that need to be done to the bike, such as a grey wire or something to that sort. Can someone help me out with a list or a link that spells these out. I did a search but came up blank. I think I need to hone my search skills.

Thanks, Stacy

Just the gray wire, throttle stop and baffle removal mods make a huge difference in the performance of the bike. I believe the throttle stop does the most. I don't understand why it is like that but I guess they have their reasons.

Did your friend tell you how much he paid for the bike? Im currently looking at a 2002 WR250F leftover and the dealership is telling me $4800 OTD (no taxes).. I was thinking more around $4300 OTD but he said when they bought it from Yamaha (they bought it about 6months ago as a leftover) they paid yamaha $4800 (which I don't believe).. what do you think? I really want the bike (was about to put a deposit on it the other day) but $4800 just seems high to me..

He paid $3,900.00 for the bike but the dealer then tacked on about $500.00 in fees and then taxes. I think $4,800.00 OTD is high if it doesn't include taxes and all. You can get an '04 for $4,899.00 from Sky powersports (do a search on cycletrader for wr250f but then they tack on the fees. Also it is hard to find a '04 wr...at least in Florida it is.

Damm.. $3900... Let me get this straight.. The $4400 was without the taxes, right?

So out the door he probably ended up paying with taxes around $4,700?

So my desire to pay $4500 out the door isn't too far off (I have an out of state addy that will let me get around taxes)..

Thanks for the help.. Once I hear your response Im heading back over to talk to this guy.. He told me to come back today because he had to find the exact numbers that they paid.. :) Maybe in an hour Ill have a new bike..

Bahhhh.. Just got back from the stealership and was told the best they would do was $5000 and I would have to get them an out of state address to avoid taxes.. I gotta go hit up a few more shops tomorrow.. Hopefully there is something in NJ..
