Just bought a new YZ 125 and was wondering what type of pre-mix and transmission oil to use?

Also, what ratio is best, the book recommends 30:1?

Should I follow the break in period that the book recommends?

Any other advice would be appreciated, since this is my first 125.

Thanks

32:1 with any quality oil will suffice. 10w40 or Type F ATF transmission fluid work great, and are cheap enough that you can change them often.

You should break in the bike properly.

The best modification that you can do to the bike is to get the proper springs for your weight if they aren't the right ones already, and to get the jetting dialed in.

I run 32:1 which is also what I run in my 250 and then Golden Spectro 80W. Seems ok so far.
