I just purchased a 2006 CRF-250R and for the first time when I turned it on, and let the bike idle for about a minute, the headpipe started to glow to the point where you could almost see through the pipe. Is this right for the headpipe to do that? We called up the Honda dealer we purchased it from and the guy said it was normal for the specific bike I had. And that when I do start the engine, it's meant to hop on and take off. Not let it idle? Thanks in advance for any input.

Normal.
You don't want to let 4 strokes sit and idle more than necessary to warm it up.

You probably need to richen the air/fuel mixture with the pilot screw. You are most likely lean and that is why the headpipe is glowing. A lean condition makes the engine run hot.
I had the same problem with my YZ. If I held it at 1/4 throttle the pipe would start glow cherry red after about 5 seconds. Once I richened it up the pipe no longer glowed.
