Bought my RM 125 in Feburary and rode every weekend until late March when the Piston ring broke and took out the cylinder, had it replated and have been replacing pistons at 12 to 15 hours at dealer recomondation. Last week I broke another ring, inspected the cylinder and found it looks just like the first incident except there is a gaping crack between the pimary and secondary exhaust ports. Has anyone had similar failures with the new RM 125. I wrote to Suzuki with no results or help offered. I would like to find a more permanent fix then just welding and replating again.

It's realy a heartbreaker because I love the way the bike handles and it pulls hard but going to a race not knowing you have a dependable motor is making me want to sell the thing. If I buy a new jug I am thinking someone might be able to improve the design or something.

Have you contacted Eric Gorr yet? He may be able to do something for ya to help keep that thing from detonating on you..

Just spent hours looking thru parts diagrams, looks like Suzuki put a different cylinder on every 125 from 04 to 07. Has anyone had good luck with their top ends on 04 thru 06?

No issues on 2 seasons of use on my sons 05 RM125 before he moved to a 250F. Cylinder was ported by Eric Gorr prior to ever being started, so I'm not sure if Eric relieved the exhaust bridge during the porting.

I know of two 05's with no top end problems in two years, running full MX seasons. This year they are 144s & still no problems. Probably just a defect in the casting, it happens.

Hi yea my 05 rm125 has been great in the top end department although just last weekend there was a ratling noise in the engine. when I push the kickstand down theres a real metalic sound in the bottom end.. could be gears?...

but any way did suzuki make any changes from the 05 or 06 topend?

yeah 4 of my friends i race with have rm125's... two are 2005's one has a 2006 and the other is an '07. None of them have had any problems... in fact i think one of the 05's is on stock rings (needless to say he isn't in the top five :P). Just sounds like you got a lemon...
