Help 2015 kx450 no compression

Just picked up a 2015 kx450 from a buddie of mine and the thing has no compression def wint start. I literally know next to nothing about 4 strokes. But I know with 2strokes you'd need a top end rebuild. Wondering if that's the same case with a 450?

You can start by checking the valve clearance but a better way to access the engine condition is with a leak down test. You might want to ask your "buddy" about the conditions that lead up to it having no compression and failing to start.
