I am thinking of going back. I race in the 30 plus class and go about mid pack on the starts against 250s and 450s. Any opinions?

I ride trails once to twice a month sometimes more. I am 5'10 160lbs, here in OH we encounter all typres of terrain. I know the 250 would be an adjustment over the 250f, just wondering if it might work better or worse?

Have you ever rode a 2 stroke? A 250 is a handful in the woods but it can be done. What brand would you buy? Personally I would I would get a KDX or KTX200 or 300EXC. They wouldn't be as competitive on the track but you could ride them in a age class. You would probably have a lot more fun over all.

Why would he want a woods bike, especially an underpowered undersuspended overweight bike like the KDX, if he rides mostly mx and woods just a few times a month?

Exactly, I am looking for something that is better than my 02 250f and will get out of the gate consistently with 250 class bikes in the 25 and 30 plus B classes in mx.

Hey, I'm just a trail guy telling you what you need. I don't race. I just ride the track on a KDX. Check out the KDX web forum because there are lots of modifacations for the KDX. If you ask me 220lbs stock isn't a heavy bike. Many people put KX125 forks on or XR400 springs to make them stiffer. There are bore kits too. If your buying new there's a bit of a price difference. Used KDX 1996 or newer go for around $2000 to $2500.
