what is the most up-to-date manual on the market to help with 4-stroke bikes? Would like something similar to Eric Gorr's 2-stroke manual.

The individual shop manual for the model you are working on is your best bet. When you get into specifics such as valve adjustment specifications, you will need that for the applicable model. Not ALL 4 strokes have the exact same cam design. The manual your are referring to would be fine for an overall understanding of 4-strokes.

Check out www.howstuffworks.com for an idea of how a four stroke engine works.

For performance modification information, the Powroll website is pretty good
www.powroll.com Check out their tech section.

There's not really a "four stroke tuners handbook". As far as I know, there's nothing like that currently in print (hey, maybe a good idea for making money for a four stroke guru out there???).
