Was just cruising thru KTM's website and on the 300 MXC, 250 EXC and 300 EXC they recommend 60:1 ratio. Wow, I was scared of 50:1 so went back to 32:1. On the 200's and 125's they recommend 40:1.

I just realized after further study. The 60:1 ratio is for non-USA models. The USA models are 32:1 and will immediately crater if you deviate from that.

Seriously, I wonder why they give different ratios for the same bike but different countries? I am seriously thinking of buying a 300EXC next year. They are so sweet.

That's the number they have to specify in Europe for emissions reasons(to get particulate emissions under the legal threshold). The compression is prolly backed down a bit to keep oxides of nitrogen down also-which keeps heat down, power down etc, etc.

They may likely give much decreased service intervals for overseas bikes too.

60:1

The ratios are the same in other countries, they are just measured differently. They use the metric system, fuel is measured in liters, so its 60ml to 1L.

Bingo eric.......mind you I think 60:1 is a little lean. But even the old models come with that recommendation in the manual. I like 40:1on my old 300 banger. But really when it comes to fuel and oil mixes I dont really know **** from clay and its just a personal preference.

60:1 is 60:1 no matter what system of measurment is used. (lol) :)

60:1 in the US is 60:1 in Zimbabwe.
