I have been trying to decide which of these two too get. I ride the DNR trails around Baldwin and Leota. I have read good things about the S12's but have not been able to find that much about the 773's.

773's work good but don't wear nearly as well as the S-12's.
If you live in MI the S-12 is the ticket. contact www.lansingcycle.com for a great deal on Michelin's.

Ditto, I've ridden both. And have both tires on bikes currently. I favor the 773 though even though it's wear a lot faster. I have had chucking problem on one S12 (front) and the same tire felt like it wanted to wash out easier then the 773. (That tire was nearing it replacement though. On my new berg it came with s-12 and hasn’t felt that problem just. Both tires hook up great!

the 773 is a great tire for mud and sand but will wear quickly. if you dont mind buying tires every two months then the 773 would be a great spring and fall tire for the sloppy weather.

Thanks for the input guys, Lansing Cycle is less than 5 miles from my house so that sounds like the thing to do.

773 front is best. Wears longer than any I've had too. For the rear go with the S12. 773 is excellent but doesn't wear quite as long as the S12. Heck...rears just don't last very long of any kind.
