Hey guys, does anyone know if you can take the stator/flywheel and CDI box from a 78 DT175 and put it in a 75 DT175 to replace the points ignition?
And I dont mean, will the wires plug right up, I realize Ill have to re-wire the lighting coil, but will the stator physically fit where the old one was? Do I have to use the flywheel from the 78 as well, or just ditch the advance mech and use the old one? Seeing as how the CDI is triggered by a pulse coil on the stator it seems the old flywheel would work, but I dont know thats why Im asking.
The points ignition on the old DT's is a pain in the ass, and an obvious weak point of the bike, Id love to replace it with an electronic ignition system.
Any advice guys?
