I want to start racing and jumping, but I am unsure of what bike to get. Im 14, 5'4", 110. I sat on '01 (might have been '02) JR80 and XR100. I liked the way the felt, but I havent rode them. Anyone have any suggestions for me?

I agree... if you want to get into jumping and racing - you might wanna check out the KX 80, KX 100, and RM 80. These are a little better "beginner" bikes than the CR or YZ (because they have powervalves and smoother power from bottom to top). The JR 80 and XR 100 do not have good suspension for jumping and, at your size, you will fit a 80cc or 100cc MX bike just fine!

Like MARK IT said, they are good bikes for learning but not great jumping bikes due to the suspension.

Do you have any experience riding dirt bikes?
Let us know your experience level.
You might also look over the Yamaha TTR-125 .

My two sons (11 & 13 at the time) learned on Honda XR-100's and quickly began riding MX tracks and jumping. We moved up to Honda '01 CR-80's this past September. Great bikes for MX riding & jumping as I would guess the YZ-85, KX-85/100 are also. My (now 14 year old) son is close to your body size and fits the CR-80 just right. The CR-80 has quite a power hit in the mid-upper RPM's so you have to be careful with throttle/power management. You can check my sons dirt bike web sites out in the signature below to see them ride.

One note on the *big wheel* versions of the bikes such as the CR-80 Expert and possibly the KX-100. I think (check me if I'm wrong) some AMA districts don't let the *big wheel* bikes race with the 85cc class. They have to race with the 125cc class. So if you plan on racing, check that out.

Good Luck and let us know if you need more information!

...

I have some experience in riding, I have a 1990(hehe..) XR100 that I have been learning on, I have only raced friends with it, but I have done some small jumps. I am thinking about the YZ85 and KX85, I dont like the CR80 or RM80, and if I get the KX100 I will have to race the 125 which I dont want to do. I have seen the TTR125, but I would rather have an 85, as I said, I dont want to race 125.

Don't confuse the TTR-125 with MX bikes. The TTR is a 4-stroke play bike. It's a great bike to learn on, but you wouldn't want to race it on a MX track.
