81 Rm 250

i was rewcently given a 1981 RM 250. I can kick start it but it just Rev's out. I dont have an owners manual so i cant even check the throttle assembly/ carb. If anyone can offer me any help please give me a hand!!!

sounds like a air leak- -- im guessing the stater side-(behind the magneto/electrical unit-) main seal-- pop it out - new one in- 12-15 bucks
or might be the carb boot leaking air- if its dry rotted-
crab isnt hard to clean-- take pics ,and nots when tearin it apart- clean the pilot jet- ,and main-
but if its startin i dont think its the carb-

pjpfeifs, make sure the carb slide is going all the way down. Also, you might have an air leak somewhere.

yes make sure carb slide is going down to bottom adjust throttle cable that is if revs out means when it starts it runs wide open with no throttle control
